Chemistry 215, November 5th 1999: Today is Guy Fawkes Day, when people in Britain celebrate the failure of Guy (or Guido) Fawkes and his accomplices to blow up the Houses of Parliament during its State Opening by King James I in 1605. celebrations include fireworks and bonfires upon which effigies of Mr. Fawkes (known as Guys) are burned.
